DAY TWO: MBE Pre-Test

Taking and correcting the MBE Pre-Test, a complete 200-question MBE exam under exam conditions.  Discovering and analyzing your strengths and weaknesses on the MBE. Completing the BarWrite Audit, which gives you a foundation for planning for the bar-preparation period.

Note. If you are unable to take this MBE pre-test with the group because you must work, you may take the exam at home and fill out your Audit, and report the results at the next class meeting.

  • Strict liability

  • Damages

Criminal Law and Procedure:

  • How the Bill of Rights applies to criminal cases in New York State

  • How the New York Constitution provides greater protections for the criminal defendant that the federal Constitution

  • Elements of a crime under New York law

  • Inchoate crimes

  • Ordinary and affirmative defenses

  • Most-frequently-tested principles of New York criminal law

  • Homicide under the New York Penal Law

  • Felony murder and the statutory defense to felony murder

 


DAY FOUR:  

Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) Study Techniques (Part A) Contracts/UCC Topics:

  • Study techniques to raise your score by 20 MBE questions

  • How to stop reading all of the answer choices

  • Which questions are most frequently asked and how to answer them

  • Which contracts principles are 15% of the MBE

  • How to memorize the right rules and practice the right questions

  • How to plan your study schedule

DAY FIVE

Multistate Bar Exam (MBE) Study Techniques (Part B) Negligence.  Of the 200 questions on the MBE, 17 are on negligence law.  This is your opportunity to find out how to raise your score.

 

DAY SIX

Wills:

  • How to outline a complex wills issue

  • How to maximize points on a wills question

Domestic Relations:

  • Stating a cause of action in divorce under New York law

  • The difference between residency requirements and personal jurisdiction
